Graduate Program

The Philosophy Ph.D. program educates future teachers, scholars, public humanists, and activists who address living questions through perspectives grounded in a systematic understanding of the histories and traditions of philosophy. We promote a diversity of approaches to the study of philosophy, including continental, feminist, literary, multicultural, and pragmatic.

Across these multiple approaches, our regular and affiliated faculty are involved in a range of Emory departments, programs, and initiatives, including African American Studies; the Center for Mind, Brain, and Culture; Comparative Literature; Religion; Disability Studies; Global and Postcolonial Studies, the James Weldon Johnson Institute for the Study of Race and Difference; the Psychoanalytic Studies Program; and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.  Many of these departments and programs offer opportunities for certificates.  Public Humanities supports an internship program for students seeking careers in or beyond academia.
