The Marcus Foundation. It is a pleasure to announce that the Marcus Foundation has awarded the Philosophy Department a five-year grant renewal to fund the Institute for the Study of the History of Philosophy. This is a unique opportunity for the department to continue to move forward as a leader among programs centered in the history of philosophy. This grant renewal supports the centerpiece of the Institute, the summer seminars on a topic in the history of philosophy. We owe deep gratitude to the Marcus Foundation as well as to Dean Robin Forman and our colleague Donald Phillip Verene for their invaluable efforts on securing this grant.
The Ronald and Patricia Nicholson Endowment. The Philosophy Department is very grateful for a most generous gift from Ronald and Patricia Nicholson. This gift was intended for the enhancement of our undergraduate extracurricular program. It has enabled us to hold an annual Phi Sigma Tau induction dinner since 2007 and has significantly supported our very active Phi Sigma Tau and undergraduate Philosophy Club programs since that time. Our thanks to the Nicholsons for giving us this ongoing opportunity.
